The goals of the organization include:
- To publicize the unique recreational and educational experiences that are available in the Northern Unit.
- To develop a public appreciation for the Northern Unit and its resources.
- To recruit public involvement in the activities and future direction of the Northern Unit.
- To provide financial assistance for education, conservation, and recreational programs as well as other forest projects.
